Health Benefits of Soy
|
|
SOY LOWERS CHOLESTEROL In August 1995, the New England
Journal of Medicine
reported the combined results of thirty-eight
research studies which suggested that eating 30 grams of soy per day reduces "bad" cholesterol (LDL) by 12.9 percent.

SOY RELAXES BLOOD VESSELS
Natural oil in soy contains about 8% omega-3 essential fatty acids. Omega-3s have repeatedly been
associated with heart health. It relaxes blood pressure, improves circulation, protects blood from
clotting, and reduces inflammatory changes.

|
| SOY REDUCES THE RISK OF VARIOUS CANCERS |
|
Plant estrogen, genistein is found almost EXCLUSIVELY in soy. Under laboratory conditions, soy
genistein has been added to cancerous cells. It inhibits the growth of the cancer cells and even cause cancer
cells to revert back to normal cells. When it is added to normal cells, it does not interfere with the growth
of normal cells.
Mark Messina, Ph.D., a former researcher at the National Cancer Institute, identifies
seven components of soy that appear to act as antioxidants against cancer.

| HEART-HEALTHY |
|
In November 1999, FDA approved the
statement that 25 grams of soy
protein a day, as part of a diet low
in saturated fat and cholesterol,
may reduce the risk of heart
disease. |
